Description

Pathway, a leading virtual production studio based in Manchester, is seeking a skilled and adaptable Compositor to join our team. As a Compositor at Pathway, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, including advertising campaigns, feature films, and high-end television productions, using your expertise in Nuke, Houdini and Unreal Engine 5 to seamlessly integrate visual elements and create stunning, immersive visuals.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate closely with the VFX Supervisor, Director of Photography, and other team members to achieve the desired visual look and feel of shots.

  2. Seamlessly integrate CG elements, live-action footage, and visual effects to create photorealistic and visually stunning shots.

  3. Use Nuke and Houdini to composite and enhance visual elements, including 2D and 3D assets, matte paintings, and live-action footage.

  4. Understand and interpret the creative and technical requirements of each shot, ensuring the final composition meets the project's artistic vision and client expectations.

  5. Collaborate with the CG and lighting teams to ensure consistency and seamless integration of CG elements within live-action shots.

  6. Implement color grading, depth-of-field, and other post-processing effects to enhance the overall visual aesthetics of shots.

  7. Troubleshoot and problem-solve technical issues related to compositing, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of shots.

  8. Stay up to date with industry trends, software advancements, and emerging techniques related to compositing and visual effects.

  9. Maintain efficient file structures and adhere to established naming conventions for seamless collaboration and asset management.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Compositor or in a similar role within the visual effects industry, working on advertising campaigns, feature films, or high-end television projects.

  • Proficiency in industry-standard compositing software, particularly Nuke and Houdini, with a strong understanding of compositing workflows and techniques.

  • Solid understanding of color theory, lighting, perspective, and composition principles.

  • Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for achieving photorealistic results.

  • Experience in working with CG elements, green screen footage, and digital matte painting.

  • Familiarity with other visual effects software and plugins is a plus.

  • Ability to adapt to different project requirements and work collaboratively within a team environment.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to meet project deadlines without compromising quality.

  • A strong showreel showcasing your compositing work and technical skills.

  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in visual effects, animation, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
